NFBC Club Rides
The North Florida Bicycle Club rides are open to everyone.   HELMETS ARE REQUIRED AS A MATTER OF CLUB POLICY.  Bicycles are subject to almost all of the same rules as motor vehicles when on the road.  Headphones are illegal under state law.  Anyone riding with a NFBC sponsored ride must sign a ride sheet at the beginning of the ride, which includes waiver of liability – NO EXCEPTIONS!  When riding, please be predictable and courteous.  For your safety and others, inform others in your group of your intended movements and don’t do anything suddenly.  A, B, C and S designators indicate the intensity of the rides and suggest an average speed the group will maintain.

Ride Ratings:
A = 18-21 MPH     B = 14-17 MPH     C = up to 14 MPH
S = Social Ride.  The emphasis is on the social side of the club, so the speed will be that of the slowest rider in the group.

Rides often split off into many rates of speed.  All club sponsored rides will have a leader who’s contact information will be made available through the weekly ride announce e-mail.  The information contained in the ride descriptions below is intended to be accurate, but the weekly ride announcement will provide the final details,  This may change from these announcements.  If you are not subscribed to nfbc_news@simplelists.com, you will not receive these e-mails.  Contact Membership@nfbc.us if you would like to be added to that list. The ride times vary based on the event and the time of year.  The times listed on the web site for each ride are generally correct, but the final time set will be in accordance with the ride announcement e-mail.  The ride time indicated is the time we BEGIN riding, so arrive early enough to allow enough time to get your bike and yourself ready.  Please be courteous to your fellow riders and be ready to ride on time.

People interested in leading a ride or creating a ride should contact the Ride Director at RideDirector@nfbc.us

27-47 miles.  Ride starts at Veterans Park on Veterans Parkway, which is off Race Track Road.  Park in the back by the basketball courts and pavilions.  This club favorite ride goes along some of the newest paved avenues of northwest St. Johns County, most with bicycle lanes and little vehicular traffic.  While most of the ride will be an A/B ride, there usually are several C and S riders.  The ride is always within easy reach of civilization, so help is never too far at any time.  Bring a snack and a beverage and plan on staying after the ride to socialize with your fellow riders.  Contact John McDowell at RideDirector@nfbc.us  for more info.

A right turn onto 200 then another right onto Amelia Concourse takes us to Nassauville Rd. where we work our way to Amelia Parkway.  We then head south on A1A which eventually turns into Heckscher Dr. We follow Heckscher Dr. to New Berlin Rd. just before 9A and take a right - this is the detour to get around construction on Heckscher. The detour takes us over to Main St. then south on Busch Dr. back to the zoo.  The century option will be available if someone is willing to lead the route.  Bring a snack and a beverage and plan on staying after the ride to socialize with your fellow riders.  Maps are located on the web site under Rides, Maps.  Contact John McDowell at RideDirector@nfbc.us  for additional info.
