11am to 1:30pm Picnic

January can be chilly even in Florida so it is the perfect month for the North Florida Bicycle Club Chili Ride and Picnic.  So come out enjoy a 41-mile ride along Amelia Island over the bridge and through the backroads of Yulee.  C/S riders take a relaxing ride down the Amelia Island Trail to Talbot Island and back.

The mountain bike riders will depart SuperCorsa Bike Shop at 8:30AM.  1.4 miles on the road to Peter's Point, then 2.8 miles up the beach to Saddler (it will be low tide),  north on Egan's Creek Greenway trails then the Fort Clinch Mountain Bike loop (single track), then back south the same way to the picnic.  (note: In case of heavy wind, the beach section will be downwind only). Ride Leader Jacy Crosby

All rides will start at the picnic area under the huge live oaks at SuperCorsa cycles located on the Amelia Island Trail.

At 11am after the ride join the picnic and feast on chili, salads and desserts prepared by club members. If you are a cook, get out your favorite chili recipe and join the NFBC Chili Cook-off contest. There will be prizes for the best chili. We need Chili for both vegetarians and non-vegetarians. It would also be good to have a variety of both spicy and mild chili. Please label your chili if it is vegetarian or if it is unusually spicy. If your food needs to be heated, please bring it hot in a crock-pots to keep it hot.

As well as chili, we need salads, cornbread and deserts (cookies, brownies, etc.). We will supply water and soft drinks but bring your own adult beverages, if desired. Also, bring your own lawn chair. We have commitments from a few members who are bringing chili but we will need more members to bring chili and other food.  Members eat free and there is a $5 charge per non-members. There will also be a donation bucket to help support the Amelia Island Trail.

THIS RIDE COUNTS FOR CLUB POINTS AND MILEAGE.
