Join the North Florida Bicycle Club Travel Team for the ultimate girls’ weekend on the inaugural tour named after Florida’s Beach Sunflower, which grows only in Florida, blooms year-round, and requires an abundance of sun and salt to survive. Beach Sun flowers are not delicate flowers. It is in this spirit that Bike Florida will host a group of forty (40) women to ride 250 miles across the Sunshine State, from Coast to Coast in a span of four days.
The registration fee covers three hotel nights at double occupancy (single available) , SAG, insurance, support, staff, event jersey, maps, and a daily happy hour.
The tour is fully supported, and almost all of the routes use trails separated from motorized vehicles. At the halfway point of each day’s ride, there is a SAG stop and shuttle that you can take to the destination if you want stop early that day. Luggage, etc. will be bussed to the hotels.
For the purposes of this tour’s logistics, you should able to maintain a minimum average rolling pace of 14 mph. If you cannot ride that fast but still really want to come, consider bringing or renting an e-bike. Because the Bike Florida ride leaders are on the route until every participant has completed the ride, you will never be last.
The NFBC Travel Team Captain Virginia Deroy will be leading our club’s riders at the Sunflower Tour. Please contact her at nfbctravelteam@nfbc.us is you have registered for the ride or if you have questions about the ride. Be sure to sign in with Virginia at the ride to get NFBC mileage credit for the ride. The first day of the ride will be NFBC jersey day for the Travel Team, please wear you NFBC gear that day for the group picture. Of course you can wear NFBC jerseys on subsequent days as well.
