About NFBC

Our Vision:

As leaders in the cycling community, we encourage and promote safe cycling as a means of recreation and transportation.

Our Mission:

Support bicycling through social interaction, educational activities, and advocacy throughout the Northeast Florida region.

Our Purpose:

  • NFBC is a social club that works with bicyclists, motorists, and law enforcement to encourage safe sharing of the roads, with the goal of educating both cyclists and motorists on their rights and responsibilities.
  • Advocate through local and state governments to make our roadways and pathways safe for cycling, and to address the needs and concerns of the bicycling public.
  • Support community education programs beginning at the elementary school level to teach children the basics of safe cycling.

NFBC at a Glance:

The North Florida Bicycle Club seeks to foster camaraderie and safe bicycling in northeast Florida. NFBC began in the 1970’s as a racing club and evolved over the years into a social club. NFBC has become one of the largest bicycling clubs in Florida, well known for our rides, cycling advocacy, and education as well as our Charity Ride and Travel Teams.

We hold organized bike rides seven days a week tailored to riders of all levels. See our extensive offerings on the Events Calendar. We focus on safety and endeavor to insure every rider has a pleasant, safe cycling experience.  We track members’ mileages and centuriy rides.

NFBC hosts one or two paid rides each year: the Tour de Forts Classic and/or the Endless Summer Watermelon Ride. Members receive a deep discount for these rides.  Our paid  rides raise monies to support club activities including our Charity Ride Team and the Pedaling for Safety campaign. We are extremely proud of our safety campaign and the recognition we have received from the Florida Bicycle Association and Bike Florida for our efforts to make bicycling safer in Florida.

Our Travel Team represents the club in many of the other great bicycle rides throughout the state as well as some out-of-state rides.  Team members enjoy the camaraderie of fellow club members while riding to support worthwhile causes.

NFBC membership includes Excess Accident Medical Expense Coverage for any injury sustained on any Club ride not fully covered by member’s other insurance, subject to a deductible and maximum limit.

Our club newsletter, Wheelspeak, is published several times a year and is available online.  In Wheelspeak you will find interesting articles pertaining to cycling, cycling safety, and cycling news, as well as member stories.

For members of NFBC, many of the local bike shops offer a 10%-15% discount on merchandise (bicycles and repairs excluded). See our Supporting Bike Shops page.

Memberships and ride sign-ups are administered through our website which is hosted by Club Express. We realize you value your privacy and we do too. Your information will never be shared by NFBC with any other entity.

Finally, get all of your maps on your bike computer or phone with voice turn by turn navigation using our Ride With GPS Club Level Account.

We hope you like what you have read about our club and look forward to seeing you on a ride or at a club meeting soon.
