What is this?
This ride will start at Burney Park – a beach park in Historic American Beach with
ample parking and facilities. Travel down First Coast Highway, passing through Big Talbot and
Little Talbot Island State Parks, enjoying scenic water views of Amelia River, Fort George Inlet,
along the St. Johns River to Blount Island where the route takes us inland, near preserves and
north on US 17/MainStreet. In Hedges, the route goes on to explore the back roads of Yulee
before crossing the bridge onto Amelia Island and back to Burney Park. The majority of this ride
takes place on roads with wide shoulders/bike lanes or on quiet back roads. There is a rough
section on SR-200 before the bridge crossing back onto Amelia Island - caution should be taken.
Cyclists of all levels are welcome and no rider will be left behind. The main route is 66 miles.
There are plenty of stops (Circle K’s) along the way for re-grouping, supplies and facilities.
