About this event

This mostly flat ride will start at Burney Park – a beach park in Historic American Beach on Amelia Island with ample parking. Restrooms and a water fountain. Along with the 66-mile route riders, we will travel down Heckscher Drive, passing through Big Talbot and Little Talbot Island State Parks, enjoying scenic water views of Amelia River, Fort George Inlet, along the St. Johns River to Blount Island, where the route takes us inland, near preserves and north on US 17/MainStreet. At about 50 miles, at Pages Dairy Road, the 66-mile cyclists head east, and the 100-mile cyclists head west.

The century ride crosses under I-95 and do a loop in western Nassau County before heading back to explore the back roads of Yulee before crossing the bridge onto Amelia Island and back to Burney Park. Most of this ride uses roads with wide shoulders/bike lanes or quiet back roads. The rough section on SR-200 before the bridge crossing back onto Amelia Island -has been repaired and is now smooth.

RIDE PACE:
(1)  START to YULEE: You can ride with whatever group that feels comfortable for you.
(2) YULEE: The Century Riders regroup at the Hagen ACE Hardware parking lot near the corner of Miner Road & SR200 (Mile 47.8). This is to get a head count and discuss the remainder of the ride before starting off again.
(3) YULEE TO END: The main group will target a rolling speed of 17-18 mph. Faster riders have the option of riding ahead, but the ride leader will stay with the back group.

Rest Stops:
(1) Mile 22.6 Circle K gas station near Blount Island on Heckscher
(2) Mile 35.1 Circle K gas station at the corner of Starratt & Yellow Bluff Road
(3) Mile 53 BP gas station on SR 200 just west of I-95
(4) Mile 86
